Yesterday's YUVA- is Manirathnam against Communism?. all the politicians in YUVA wore red and they come out of Writer's Building. The speech is done from a red platform and most of Abhishek's clothes are red. Also, the security gaurds for Ompuri when he makes the speech are in red.atlast micheal says that"Iam not against u but against ur SIDTHAANTH- Which Sidthaanth is he referring to?- if he is against it i would welcome it.
This might be my last post from Mumbai. Tomorrwo i am leaving for Chennai. I will any way continue to post from Chennai. The realtive that i was speaking of wouldnot be in home today evening and my program stands cancelled as of nou. Yesterday after YUVA, i came back to room whereas,Vishal, Santa and Ganesh went on to Sethi's room for a party.
Our Seniors in Mumbai are having a party and these guys went on to there.
As i have to come to office today, i came back to room and slept. Mid-night around Srijeet comes, knocks the door and says Good-Morning.May be today he will be in room when i go back.
Tomorrow i need to come to office to submit the report and get the certificates. Then i need to go to that relatives house at around 3.00 and then i need to leave for train. The train is at 9.15 at Kalyan.

Ya, today is my 23rd bday. I have lived in this world for 8400 days. Pretty impressive experience isn't it?. Thought of going to my relative's house n have some nice food.
Saw YUVA yesterday- Good film- certainly not for the masses.
The music scores in many places- when ever there is character shown in the film , one of the songs associated with him comes in the back ground slowly as a tender hand thru the top of paddy field.(Unable to translate Tamil into English- what can I call Thendral n Pasumpayir)
Then the moodes and motives are clearly brought out by the actors except Vivek- he always opens his eyes wide open to signify surprise- even iam surprised. The cinematograpghyand the camera- hats off. Especially the blue wide expense of the sea in the song with Vivek and Karina- sexy in one word.
There are some gaping holes in the story line too. The Story as such doesn't have a "END"- this might not work well with the masses. It may go down well with the metros -"Classical" people.
The song "Jaane do--" may be good in Hindi but if the song has the same scenes in Tamil then it would look awfully out of track-imagine guys with tattoos and girls half clad in jeans and waist lines singing- "yaakai thiri"- meaning "Body is wick n love is Fire"- the words "Yaakai" out of use even in the most literary worlds. Similarly words like "Pingalam"- nobody even understands them now.
n the most hippiest of people who speak English even with their parents speaking these words in song- atrocious.

2morrow is my Bday.Self-congratulatory mode now. Called up home yesterday. My cousin sis has got a baby-boy. Very happy over it. Infact I have been trying to get in touch with them for the past 1 week and as everyone in my house has gone to hospital, no one was there in house to pick up the phone,n i don't have a cellphone. The number which i had given to my father is of Srijeeth's and he had gone to his native. He will not be reachable.
Anyway that's all for good-Something which we may never know.

Ya reading this news in Indian Express about the tragedy that befell the 23 men of ONGC last year. It is a classic example of casual attitude leading to disasters. The machine has been grounded just 4 days back and has been under repair, that dealt in with very important and critical parts like rotor shaft and tail gear. Then with just 3 minutes of "test" flying was taken to ferry the crew.
Bad for a professional company. Too bad. I only hope negligence doesn't make a news next time

Got a gr8 boost today- one more casualty to the blogg bug-Shveta. hahahhahah!!!!!!.
decided that she would be blogging once she reaches Bangalore.
Cruel Laugh.......

How many more personality tests?. am i becoming compulsive n obsessive?may be may not be....
You're BABY! You're Baby, and Rosiekins ADORES you, she loves you dearly, she'd do anything for you! You'revery smart and intuitive, and oh so adorable! You're also a little snooty, being VERY picky of who you associate with. You've almost died four times from bouts with urinary tract infections, and would have been put to sleep if Rosiekins hadn't of thrown many fits. You love life, and have been through hell and back to survive. You like spending your time fighting with Fluffy, and cleaning Prince, because you can't STAND for things to be dirty (and we think you're gay). You're probably obsessive compulsive.

Jus feeling too good to blog. what to do?. iam preparing my report and it sometimes gets too boring to stare at the screen and type bank, dsa, disbursement, market share etc,etc,etc,...
jus wanna type something. boring

Took a casual visit to Mahesh's Blog and got on to another link and another and another till i bumped upon a personality test. took the test.
This was my result.

now may be iam like this only or may be iam not. I dont knou. But 1 thing Iam what I am.-Right?. i would take another test and then verify whether this one is credible. Today morning, was gr8. Ganesh has come down from Chennai after his Summers.(not yet complete-Presentation left). Woke me up at around 5.50 from a gr8 slumber that i was enjoying. Then i couldnt sleep. Started watching the world getting ready for the day and was seriously amased to find the kind of activity going around. The first thing that strikes is the Birds-How many different varities of birds- early in the morning but still busy cropping and creeching and fighting and feeding-universe opens up in how many colours- light reddish to yellow to blue to bright white. trees slumbering up from dark patches of black to light green to the lavish colours.
gr8 morning- n there was a dog with around 4 puppies. that was a cute scene to watch from teh second floor where u are not the part of anything burt still u are in the system.Thanx Ganesh. Chennai had got good amount of rains it seems and as usual gr heat.People had been fuming about chennai. But iam just waiting to board the train- the quintessential vehicle that would chug me to my heaven-my home.

gr8 day today. I jus received some excellent pics of Ash. what a beauty!!!. she is awesome. I jus love that face. jus a tinge of innocence, jus a tinge of mischief and a tinge of maturity!. whoelse will have this?. whoelse can be ever b this. happy--hapy to the hilt. will preserve it for ever. may be- till i see a better beauty. but doubt i will ever find a better one. hope god isnt that miserly. may be somewhere someplace i will c her.
may be i would have already seen her!!!!.
can anybody understand that? neither do I!!!!. but that add to the mistery to life. Never can decipher it!!!!!

This happened yesterday night. We three(Me,Vishal and Santa) were there in the room, as they both have returned back early(Surprisingly!!!). So, they went for their dinner and i just went for company!!. Meanwhile, it is a practice with us that out of the two sets of keys we have one will b with vishal and other with the neighbour. Yestersay, we had both the key sets with us and we went out with the key set that doesnt have the key for the main door of the building. without that we will not be able to enter the building leave alone the room. So, we returned back early without roaming anywhere and we were jus sitting in the wall in front of the entrance. that is a knee high wall and it is just in front of the entrance so anyone who comes to the entrance has to see us and cant go without noticing us.
but yesterday, as we were sitting there, the lady from the GF house came saw us sitting there and without muttering a word locked the entrance and went inside. We were dumb struck. We didnt expect her to do that.Thank god we took the keys immediately on coming to the room. Otherwise, yesterday we would have been forced to sleep in the railway station. It was already 10.40 at night when this happened, and we decided to just roam about. we roamed the streets for about 2 hours after that and returned at around 1.00.
just another day iin Mumbai.

Atlast I got what I wanted. i had always thought i need to look at the IPO offer doc of the GOOGLE, but some how it kept slipping out of my memory often-what with one of the poorest memory that I have. Today, while going thru a Blog of Krishnan, I got the copy of the IPO, quite unconventional IPO offer Doc-that it is, Google asks for $2,718,281,828- the exact value of a 'e'. quite cute for a site that has a corroded version of mathematical term as its name and quite true of a more open and rebellious culture that google has come to espouse. The review the IPO got from the site was what would enthuse me but still I would bet on GOOGLE to deliver.

Why can't Tams stop comparing
As I have already blogged about Mahesh's Blog, I was giving it a thorough study today. One feature struck me hard. It is like "why cant tams stop comparing themselves?".
Iam not pointing fingers at Mahesh. It is just a Universal Phenomenon, including me, that whenever we go to some other place, whenever we learn a new language, whenever we eat a new variety of food, whenever we do something we havent done b4, we cant stop comparing it with "Namma Sontha" things, like Mumbai Vs Chennai, North-Indian names(Girls) Vs South-Indian(read tamil) names(Girls). Is it that we are so unsecure, or is it we are so proud or is it that we just compare and enjoy the "unity in diversity". maybe iam wrong maybe my thoughts are baised but isnt my question valid?
is it just only with tams or it happens everywhere, with every culture. i knou for sure it happens with Americans. Does that means that tams have been Americanised at last?
The other day i happen to read a short write up- doesnt know by whom.
It was this:
The Travails of Single South Indian men of
conservative upbringing" or "Why we don't get any..."

Yet another action packed weekend in Mumbai, full of fun, frolic and introspection. I have learnt many things. For example having money when none of your friends have any is as good as not having any. And after spending much time in movie theatres, cafes and restaurants I have gathered many insights into the endless monotony that is the love life of south Indian men. What I have unearthed is most disheartening.
Disheartening because comprehension of these truths will not change our status anytime soon. However there is also cause for joy. We never stood a chance anyway. What loads the dice against virile, gallant, well educated, good looking, sincere mallus and tams?(Kandus were once among us, but Bangalore has changed all that.)
Our futures are shot to hell as soon as our parents bestow upon us names that are anything but alluring. I cannot imagine a more foolproof way of making sure the child remains single till classified advertisements or that maternal uncle in San Francisco thinks otherwise.Name him "Parthasarathy Venkatachalapthy" and his
inherent capability to combat celibacy is obliterated before he could even talk. He will grow to be known as Partha. Before he knows, his smart, seductively named northy classmates start calling him Paratha. No woman in their right minds will go anyway near poor Parthasarathy. His investment banking job doesn't help either. His employer loves him though. He has no personal life you see. By this time the Sanjay Singhs
and Bobby Khans from his class have small businesses of their own and spend 60% of their lives in discos and pubs. The remaining 40% is spent coochicooing with leather and denim clad muses in their penthouse flats on Nepean Sea Road. Bu! siness is safely in the hands
of the Mallu manager. After all with a name like Blossom Babykutty he cant use his 30000 salary anywhere. Blossom gave up on society when in school they automatically enrolled him for Cookery Classes. Along with all the girls.
Yes my dear reader, nomenclature is the first nail in a coffin of neglect and hormonal pandemonium. In a kinder world they would just name the poor southern male child and throw him off the balcony. "Yes appa we have named him Goundamani..." THUD. Life would have
been less kinder to him anyway.
If all the women the Upadhyays, Kumars, Pintos and, god forbid, the Sens and Roys in the world have met were distributed amongst the Arunkumars, Vadukuts and Chandramogans we would all be merry casanovas with 3 to 4 pretty things at each arm. But alas it is not to
be. Of course the south Indian women have no such issues. They have names which are like sweet poetry to the ravenous northie hormone tanks.
Picture this:
"Welcome, and this is my family. This is my daughter Poorni (what a sweet name!!) and my son Ponnalagusamy (er.. hello..).." Cyanide would not be fast enough for poor Samy. Nothing Samy does will help him. He can pump iron, drive fast cars and wear snazzy clothes, but against a braindead dude called Arjun Singhania he has as much chance of getting any as a Benedictine Monk in a Saharan Seminary.
Couple this with the other failures that have plagued our existence. Any attempt at spiking hair with gel fails miserably. In an hour I have a crown of greasy, smelly fibrous mush. My night ends there. However the northy just has to scream "Wakaw!!!" and you have to
peel the women off him to let him breathe. In a disco while we can manage the medium hip shake with neck curls, once the Bhangra starts pumping we are as fluid as cement and gravel in a mixer. Karan Kapoor or Jatin Thapar in the low cut jeans with chaddi strap showing and see through shirt throws his elbows perfectly, the cynosure of all tention. The women love a man who digs pasta and fondue. But why do they not see the simple pleasures of curd rice and coconut chutney?
When poor Senthilnathan opens his tiffin box in the office lunch room his female coworkers just dissappear when they see the tamarind rice and poppadums. The have all rematerialised around Bobby Singh who has
ordered in Pizza and Garlic bread. (And they have the gall to talk of foreign origin.)

How can a man like me brought up in roomy lungis and oversized polyester shirts ever walk the walk in painted on jeans (that makes a big impression) and neon yellow rib hugging t shirts? All I can do is don my worn "comfort fit" jeans and floral shirt. Which is pretty low on the "Look at me lady" scale, just above fig leaf skirt and feather headgear a la caveman, and a mite below Khakhi Shirt over a red tshirt and baggy khakhi pants and white trainers a la Rajni in"Badsha". Sociologically too the tam or mallu man is severely sidelined. An average tam stud stays in a house with,on average, three grandparents, three sets of uncles and aunts, and over 10 children. Not the ideal
atmosphere for some intimacy and some full throated "WHOSE YOUR DADDY!!!" at the 3 in the morning. The mallu guy of course is almost always in the gulf working alone on some onshore oil rig in the desert.
Rheumatic elbows me thinks.
Alas dear friends we are not just meant to set the nights on fire. We are just not built to be "The Ladies Man". The black man has hip hop, the white man has rock, the southie guy only has idlis and tomato
rasam or an NRI account in South Indian Bank Ernakulam Branch. Alas as our destiny was determined in one fell swoop by our nomenclature, so will our future be.
A nice arranged little love story. But the agony of
course does not end there. On the first night, as the stud sits on his bed finally within touching distance and whispers his sweet desires into her delectable ear, she blushes, turns around and whispers back "But amma has said only on second saturdays..."

In one last effort here we attractive young men have taken on alter egos which may interest some of you women:

1. Gautam Kumar Raja, will now be known as Joshua Perreira
2. Sidin Sunny Vadukut, henceforth will be known as Dev Chopra
3. Ashwath Venkataraman is now Vijay Desai
4. Sudarshan Ramakrishnan no more, from now he is Barath Sharma
5. Gautam Chandrasekharan will now respond to Alyque Shah

Do mail me any time for a meeting with one of the above. One week notice if Italian or Chinese food is involved, or if the individual is expected to dance

Just is also funny. But the main point is Cant we stop Comparing?

What day is this?

What day is this?. I thought we will be able to finish off the report today but as things stand now I think it is gonna b difficult. We need to meet the Head-Home Finance today and report the proceedings- that's what till now we are believing. I donno what is in store. Yesterday it was gr8. Got a mail from Mahesh asking to add comments feature in the blog. Actually I was searching for an external agency to provide that as I was unable to include that from Blogger itself. Then he gave the Enetation's site. I tried it and it was fine. Now I have the comments feature in my blog and it looks good.

Today was an interesting day. got in touch with Mahesh- got to see his blog. nice one. indeed he had many more things to rite about. many stories and stuff like that. indeed very creative. then went on to convert another guy(jayesh) to a blogger. already vishal is a dedicated blogger and is constantly upgrading and postin gr8 blogs. however, his blog is full of pictures that take lots of time to open.i also made the same comments in his post itself. hope he opens them n see.also, i added some features in my posts- courtesy mahesh.that was very good u knou.cute feature.
Had a chat with Shvetz and a lively one at that!!!!.may be I will be able to make her blog too....I think i have already got an assurance from her.
lets c.
The Idea of BLOG had inspired me a lot. I just wonder what all this can do to us.

I hadnt had a Sunday like this before. The day dawned as any other day and we had a bid of discussion over where to have our breakfast. after breakfast we decided that we will have our lunch and then leave to Hajiali- an unfinished agenda. The day before itself i had drawn my account dry and there was a mere Rs.200 left in my account. But however, we decided that we will go to Mahalakshmi and HajiAli.Then came the real Shock. The sister of Owner of the house we are staying came and the speech slowly turned to the maintanence and the electricity charges we need to pay. Now there is no escape.Only myself and Vishal were there in the room with both Santhosh and Srijeet having left to their natives. So it had come upon our head and to me worst nightmare Vishal was left with just Rs.150.The maintenance charges for the month were Rs.470 and the remaining i had to bear. That means i will be left with just Rs.5, and nothing else. And my worst nightmare came true in matter of minutes.I was left with just Rs.5 in mumbai whose language i dont understand and which doesnt understand my language.Funny isnt it?.
anyway I then borrowed some money from my neighbour. Money shouldnt be a problem because iam expecting my conveyance and other claims should be passed today.
let me see. Nothing great other than that in a sunday.Washed all my clothes and packed up all my things.afterall there is only one week left for me to leave Mumbai. Already I have got prepared mentally for that.

this is a saturday n i bunked the office for the first time in 2 months. i donno y i lost this drive to perform. but i didnt feel like going to the office on saturday. may be its bcoz its a holiday for the entire office except for us.
anyway i woke up at 6.30 as programmed and started as if iam going to office. then i decided not to go- so i started sleeping. after about 2 hours woke up again and started preparing for the breakfast. Vishal was also there and he didnt have office today. So, we decided we will go to Mahalakshmi and Hajiali today after Lunch. After breakfast slept for another 2 hrs. Then again woke up got ready- this time Vishal taking up his camrea too bcoz we are going to Hajiali. Started towards Domibivli- thought will have food there and board a train to Mahalakshmi. Went to Dharshith- Had a very good lunch- 3 butter Naan and a boul of rice with Dal. Never thought that would be this heavy. But it was damn that we decided that we will not go anywhere. returned back to the room and started the most effeicent wotk that we can do-Sleeeeep.
It is really good to sleep after a rich and full lunch. we had slept for around 4 hrs. that makes a total of around 8 hrs of sleep in day. Gr8 day to be in.
1 week reamining to finish the Summers. today got the electricity bill for the last two months.Gr8 common sense for the MSES. They write all the topics in marathi and the address and the amount in english. What silly sense is this. who are they satidfying by this?. either u write everything in marathi r u write everything in english. writing the headings like( from -to, starting reading ending reading, fine etc) in marathi and the numbers and address in english dosent make any sense- does it?

this again is a test post. i donno what is the problem but the comment option is not visible in this blog. plz somebody help me in this.
mail me to sskrish_81@yahoo.com

I put in the comments feature in the page and tried it. but iam unable to see any changes in the page. may be from this post onwards i may be able to see something. let me wait and watch

Today has been a tiring day till nou. In the morning i missed the normal train to my office and i had to take a circutous route. The train i eventually boarded will not stop at the station in need to get down. so i need to go all the way to the next station and get into the western line to come to my office. the western line had some maintenance work going on and hence there were certain trains cancelled.so i need to take an extremely crowded train that sucked the life out of me and made me yell out my lungs. it is really frustating to travel in trains in Mumbai.
Then, i had to take the call centre room for our work as the comps in our cabin were taken up for testing purposes by the systems guys.
what sort of people are these?. i donno what to feel. should i be sympathetic for them that they have been asked to come to work on sundays or should i feel bad that they wanna screw the organisation becuase they are leaving the org. in a couple of days?
i can understand the feelings of these people, as they are working in the same stuff day in and day out.
but the ways they adapt and the way they communicate with "others" is really humiliating.
Anyway our guide leaves today and he has already delegated the work to one of his colleague.letz c what happens.....

Wednesday, May 19, 2004
It is getting late here. It is already 7.45 and there is no sign of activity coming to an end. Our guide has assinged us to his colleague, and the worst part is that just before this we have been speaking to him about the success in our project. Actually the proj involves customer survey also and that is being done through Phone. The colleague whom iam referring to, is the Manager, Customer Relations, and he had been helping us in framing the questionnaire and the procedure to call up people and speak with them. Before we discussed these things with him the response rate was pretty poor as no one was willing to spend time in phone for a survey. Then we were given some good tips and that worked.
We had already told him that we would be able to finish the project by 29th and the remaining days would be spent preparing our report. That had been the plan till now. With the advent of the new guy I donno what will happen to all our plans.
lets hope for good n great but be prepared for the worst.

the final thing has come out in open. nou DMK wants to join the government. It has told it will watch the performance of the government for 1 year before deciding to join the new government. i dont knou what is the reason for the sudden change of heart. is it the change of gaurd that had taken place at the centre( Mrs.Sonia Gandhi). anyway these people think public is fool.DMK is popular for it's social jsutice plank in the formative years. But it is no more. when Murosoli Maran was made a central minister by the previous NDA government Karunanidhi was gleeful. After the tragic death of him, DMK has lost a very senior member and the only one whom the leader of the party trusts more than himself.
CPI and CPIM will also join the government sometime thereby salvaging their previous Historic Blunder. It is an open question yet to be answered. anyway it seems that by all accounts that Mr.Manmohan Singh will be the next PM. Iam atleast satisfied. i will not be ruled by a foreigner atleast for a few more years to come.

i was jus reading other blogs and i find it amazingly informative and really thought provoking. There are many other things in life than jus living. Today we went to Rmall in mulund. It is a small mall by any account and there weren't crowd even. Maybe because it was around 2.00 PM when we went.
leaving that aside, where is this country heading?. The drama that we saw yesterday had been wonderful. Sonia's Refusal to lead the government citing Inner Voice is ludicrous. Where had this inner voice gone when she came via the back door to the party's president post?. Where was this inner voice when everyone in the congress was screaming from their throat that sonia will be the next primeminister?.
this is a good ploy to divert attention and gain sympathy.
may be I'm wrong. But this is what i can think of... Using inner voice and conscience as a reason for refusing the PM's post is not a right one MRs.Gandhi that too at this point of time.

Why am I disturbed about Sonia as PM?
-Shishir Bhate
May 17, 2004

The Left parties believe in globalization more than you or I would give them credit for.

Is not the Left's acceptance of a foreign-born person as the nation's prime minister proof enough? So what if the stockmarkets don't believe that?

Sure, the Left parties have vowed for ages to combat the perils of imperialist globalization, as 'globalization and communalism are the two faces of the same coin.' But, of course, that does not apply to outsourcing of the Indian prime minister.

Yes, to the Left, foreign companies are not welcome to invest in India, especially in banking, telecom, insurance and other sectors. So? At least we are liberal enough to allow an Italian-born lady to lead the nation.

India's Communists believe foreign companies have imperialist tendencies and practice economic terrorism to subjugate independent countries.

But then individuals are different from corporates, right?

Foreign firms deny rights to the locals, argues the Left. But we should be generous enough to make an exception when it involves the right to hold the highest office in the nation.

There's more: The Left also holds that globalization is an effort to hand over power to Western forces and that it is imperative not to let Independence -- which took over a hundred years and thousands of martyrs to attain -- be surrendered to an outsider. But then that does not apply to the leader of the Congress party.

The job of the prime minister of India after all is too significant a matter to be left to a mere Indian.

Personal happiness is too sacred a thing to be allowed to be affected by trifling matters like who the prime minister of a country is. Or will be.

And yet, with Italian-born Sonia Gandhi set to become India's prime minister, I am unable to keep that queasy feeling of disappointment from gnawing at me.

Do I dislike Mrs Gandhi? No.

Am I consumed with the obsolete fear of foreign subversion that some folks talk about if the reins of the nation are handled by a foreign-born head of state? No.

Do I have reason to believe that things will pass into the hands of foreign powers if she runs the show in India? No.

Charges of 'deliberate non-involvement with the spirit and soul of India' have been levelled at her. Do I agree? No.

She has been charged with not having cut off the umbilical cord that attaches her to her country of birth. I would like to believe that she still has a strong bond with Italy.

Her cronies trumpet that this is the people's verdict, who showed the NDA the door and gave the mandate for her to be the prime minister. Well, would she have needed outside support if this were true?

She has been accused of being a 'reader leader', one who can neither speak Hindi nor English without an accent. Does it bother me? No. I am sure, she does not think with an accent.

I do not deny that she is a dignified woman, one who has suffered emotionally more than most when the nation lost Rajiv Gandhi. She is a good mother. She has learnt the Indian language, she has tried to merge with the Indian ethos and imbibe the Indian culture, maybe even attempted to understand 'Indianness'...

Is her taking over of the high office of the land a challenge to national prestige? Maybe. Do I doubt her political acumen, her accomplishments, skill, intelligence, vision, commitment, ability? Maybe.

I may seem to be insular, intolerant, bigoted, even a Sangh Parivar lackey. But I have no political affiliations. It doesn't bother me which political party holds the nation's reins or controls the nuclear button: they are all the same -- power hungry, manipulative, corrupt.

I never had any trouble accepting Mother Teresa as an Indian. I like foreign films. I do not have an aversion to everything that is imported from yonder shores: jeans, computers, cars... But an imported PM?

So why am I disturbed if Mrs Gandhi is about to take charge?

Frankly, I cannot explain why. It's an emotional thing, a sensation I can't quite put my finger onto -- like an itch I cannot scratch, like religious faith.

It is a feeling where you suspend judgment, and reflect in manner against which reason might probably rebel in saner moments. Logic cannot explain it.

I believe it is fashionable to project, allow, and accept a foreign-born person to hold sway over the nation. Maybe, it adds weight to your secular, liberal credentials. Maybe, it wins you brownie points amongst the intelligentsia. Maybe, it helps you don the holier-than-thou attitude and frown upon at the 'less liberal.'

For those who believe her foreign origin is not a problem, I have a question: Would she have been acceptable as the nation's prime minister if she were, say, Pakistani-born?

Be that as it may, Mrs Gandhi will soon be my prime minister. So maybe it is time to give her the benefit of the doubt. Conversely, it may also be a long rope.

Shishir Bhate is Deputy Managing Editor, rediff.com and India Abroad
This is an article i read recently. Even i echo the same feelings. It is really pathetic that a billion people doesn't have any one to rule them. I now truly sympthize with the freedom fighters.
at the last count she is not willing to become the PM it seems. let me see.

Monday, May 17, 2004
it has been a great day today. we submitted our conveyance and other expenses statement and our feedback form that has to be filled by our guide and sent to the college.
our guide is going on a vacation from 20th of this month. yesterday he dropped a bomb shell by saying we need to make a presentation on 3rd june. this was a shock to me as i have already booked my tickets for my native form mumbai by 31st and awaiting 31 eagerly. just because he is going on a leave from 20th till 3rd he wants us to be here till 3rd doing nothing.
we told it is not possible because we need to do a project for an NGO as part of our summers. this is one of the finest thing that TAPMI has done long before the other institutes started speaking of corporate social responsibility.
we need to work in an NGO for around 2 weeks and submit a report to our institute and i need to return to my native to do that.
if iam tied up here in mumbai till 3rd i will not be able to do the NGO part as my college reopens on 28th.
today, we went to meet a guy from one of our competitors. he was very helpfull and knouledgable.
i liked the interview.looking forward to tomorrow.

Saturday, May 15, 2004
the presentation went on smoothly i suppose. i donno what to tell about the presentation.
but iam not totally satisfied. i think we would have done a bit more. we were found lacking in data, when that data was least expected.
we should have gone prepared fully. when we were asked to present they told us to just present our learnings. when we are actually presenting they ask for findings. infact i specifically asked whether it is learning or findings.

It is really funny how things change in a gap of few weeks. They always used to tell "A day is a long time in politics and a week is eternity". That has happened. I'm really saddened by the election results. This is shame on India. Cant India find a Indian to rule the country?.hould we go to Italy to get a PM. Nou the relatives of Sonia Gandhi will get Black Cat protection at our expense in Italy. How funny it is?.
Indian people have shown that reforms wont work with them.Icant help but hate the so called Intellectuals whose only identity is a typical bag n a glass n a cap. They come at all shapes but their color has always been the same-Red.
see what the great thought provoking words of two of the party functionaries has done to Indian stock market. They have helped destroy 100000 crore of Indian inverstor's wealth in a single go.
if this is what left can do to me then let them go to hell.
look at what budddhadev bhattacharya is doing in their own backyard-West Bengal. He is leaning backwards to accommodate invrestors in their model state these people are so encouraged by the vote that they think a mere 64 seats had given them a mandate to rule the country. How insane???????????

i think i need to change my traits of city comments(although not mine they impressed me).
the incident happened today morning in the train. i was inside the train in the window side. The train was chugging along with the same rhythm. Then a station came and people were getting out. As always been the case there was mayhem n only screams were audible from all sides.
suddenly there was war cry sort of and people in the train started shouting "maaroo maaroo" meaning "hit him". i was a bit shocked. i donno what happened. i looked amusingly and there was this guy who gave a friend of him the story. There had been some push n pull while getting down from the train n that had led to a feud.they were fighting n blowing shots.the people inside the train were encouraging the guys to beat each other and enjoying the scene to the fullest.
if this is the case then it can never be what has been told by the author of that paper

Continuing with the journey to the marine lines, we sat there in the small wall that runs parallel to the sea overlooking it. its jus gr8 sight of the sea that lines the entire stretch till the end of ur sight what with the ships that line up the horizon waiting to unload r load from the mumbai harbour.
then we had a really thrilling 15 minute experience.
there was this guy sitting there catching fish. he had been there for quite sometime. there were gaint n not so gaint waves everynou n then, n we were enjoying the catch.
then suddenly there was a big wave n there came a small fish washed away by the wave. it was settled in the big cement slab put up in the sea shore. it tried to get into the water but there was no water only for it to enter.
there were waves that come very near to it but jus tuching it n leaving. it struggled there for about 15 minutes.we were praying all the time for its life, we though it would find its end here in this slab. but god should have thought otherwise. after a prolonged fight there was a big enough wave to carry the fish to water n it god its life.
my belief in god jus got more strength. the slab was some 6-7 mts beneath us n so we were also not of any use to the small creature.
ur days will end only when he thinks it should end-not otherwise,n all u do is done by Him. praise Him.

ya, im here back from that sunday blog.it has been a hectic week till nou with lots of work coming my way.nou its time n i will continue with this later

This is Sunday(yesterday). A friend of mine was expected in Mumbai after finishing her work(summers) in hyderabad. We were just crawling with time having nothing to do. Then there was this welcome rain in mumbai for the last 3 days. What a feeling to get into rain n enjoy the coolness of fresh water splashing on u when u run r have a slow scroll across the streets. i always enjoy the smell that comes along with the first touch of rrain with the land. That smell i think is the only smell that cannot b replicated by man in any time in the future. Man can never conquer nature in that. Let me atleast hope coz i had always had great faith in man's ability to do things that seems impossible at one time.
coming back to the point, she was supposed to tuch down at mumbai at around 2.00 PM. As it was raining we thought we need to leave for the station a bit earlier so that we catch up with her n also we can have some good time looking at the people at the station. So we started at around 12.oo noon. Our locaity being in the outskirts of mumbai, we need to take a train to the central station, n fast trains doesn't stop at our station. To our disappointment we found that some maintenance work was going on in the central line and so we need to go to the next station to take a train as no slow train was scheduled till 3.45 PM. We took a train to a station down side and went there. In a Sunday atleast i don't expect this crowd at stations!!!!!!!!!!!.
we had to travel in a heavily crowded train till we reached central. There our frnd was already waiting for the last 2 hrs.We had a good laugh at our bad luck and then proceeded to have our lunch. Then we sent her off to her granny's house and we headed to our repository........ Marine Lines

This is a mail from one of my freinds who happened to visit TN for his Summers. This sums up his experience in our Punniya Bhumi.
I am unable to comment on it. I didnt knou what to tell. But it makes an interesting read. I had a great laugh at our streotype images we carry about places and people without even seeing them. Will this be because of excessive newspapers?.

Hi everyone,

Panicker and myself visited Salem and Namakkal in TN to complete the first leg of our 2nd Project at
Saatchi & Saatchi. Here are some of my experiences in my first trip to TAMILNADU.

Day 1

We left Bangalore on Monday at 6 am (don’t ask how I managed to reach railway station on that rainy
morning).First day we did our survey in Salem. Just imagine,Its raining………………………………….
You are in the transport area…………………….. (Did I forget to mention that mud, water and the
stink……?????) Interviewing truck drivers, Mechanics, Owners…………….

On top of that nobody knows Hindi or English………. Kahaan Phas Gaya Re ????????????

Auto drivers turn out to be real bastards. They charge u 20 bucks for putting ur asses on their seats.

The first surprise came when we went to a retailer to interview him. HE KNEW HINDI…. More was in store……..
b4 leaving the place….. BANG comes a question “ARE U Married?” ……………………………………… W T F

I humbly say, “No sir but why did u ask?” He replied, “Rajasthan means “CHILD MARRIAGE”!!!!!!!!!!

Loved the south India food. (Truly….)

Day 2

We left for Namakkal. One hour journey from salem. It was still raining !!!!!!!!!!!

We go and meet a few mechanics and realize that all them have 5-10 trucks of their own.
WOW!!! Then why the hell is he working as mechanic????

Then we meet Mr. Manohar, a manager of the Mico workshop at Namakkal. He tells us that he sells diesel
filters worth 18 lakhs in a month, repairs pumps worth 10 lakhs in a month. Oh god!!!! Just imagine….. a
diesel pump workshop has a turnover of 3.3 crores in a year. Why the heck are we doing an MBA???????

While coming back we take a “Express bus” which charges you extra for entertainment provided in bus
which actually is OLD TAMIL VIDEO SONGS!!!!!. {Can u feel the pain?} Panicker was enjoying the music!!!!!!

I argue with the conductor that he should refund the entertainment charges, but was not successful.

But country side was beautiful, clouds were touching hilltops, felt like touching them.

Day 3

Salem again. Early in the morning a room boy came to clean my room and guess what he doesn’t know “Hindi or
English” and I don’t know Tamil. But somehow we mange to communicate using SIGN LANGUAGE. [Why don’t we
include this in our MCOM course? What say?]

In the day time we decided to pose as MICO summer trainees and go to the MICO dealers. We had to meet 4
of them. The first 3 went off well, and we were treated well in all the places. When we entered the
last one, we saw that the managers cabin was full and we saw an executive bag lying outside. This time we
were cautious, and introduced ourselves as summer trainees from Saatchi & Saatchi. Pat came the
reply…”Manager is busy with people from MICO, so kindly come after 2 hours” !!!!!!!!! LUCKY……

Wound up our work by 1pm. Went and had a good Chettinad Lunch, and dashed to our rooms to catch some
sleep.

The return journey was uneventdul, except for the beautiful gal sitting opposite us. She was the first
beautiful girl we had seen since we left Bangalore. We traveled quiet a few places in Salem for 3 days and
could not find a beautiful girl in the town!!!!

Delhi trip starts on Saturday....... Guess it will b less eventful!!!!!

Character Traits:

This is a piece I happen to read from The New Indian Express- two days back. The author has indeed been able to identify traits of a particular city with the way its people behave.

Base Scene:
Two Guys are fighting...... What happens next?

Read on....

A third guy comes along, sees them and walkes away. U know u r in Mumbai.

A third guy comes along, then a fourth and hey start arguing about who's right. U know u r in Kolkata.

A third guy comes along and tries to make peace. The first two get together and beat him up. U kinopu u r in Delhi.

A crowd gathers to watch. A guy comes along and quietly opens a chai stall. U know u r in Ahmedabad.

A third guy comes along and writes a software code to stop the fight, but the code doesn't work as there is a bug in the program. U know u r in Bangalore.

A third guy comes along, then a fourth guy and then......'n' guy. The guy split into two groups and everybody starts to fight. The first and second guy walk away peacefully. U know u r in Chennai.

Being a chennaite I find this to be a bit Too much. But it made me laugh atleast.....

Coming back to normal life in Mumbai today it was a real fun. There being no particular appointments scheduled for today I was totally free. So I decided to call some Customers and speak with them. They all speak very well till the moment I ask them for their salary. I can atleast understand that, but I'm helpless as we need that data for our project. Today atlast i was able to fix up an appointment with a DSA of a reputed new age Bank. He is in this field only for the last 1 year and hence he was unable to give me insights into the market. Also I think all the Banks look at the DSA model as just another Outsourcing Service. Infact they are the face of the bank to the customer as he comes in contact with the bank only thru the DSA. Its amazing n alarming to find how many DSA's of reputed Banks doesn't do anything other than just sourcing business.
There can be many other services that a DSA can offer to the bank......
Let me think over this further.
now its time to retire..

Its fine today.. I had a severe cold for the past 2 days that bugged me down from doing any work and today it is fine atleast iam able to speak..... ofcourse I cough a lot but still life goes on..
If u ask me the best medicine for cold I would say nothing, as my father used to tell " Cold goes off in 1 week if u take medicine and in 7 days if u don't take one"- so which one is better?
Today I met a person as part of our project- he is the counrty sales head of a company and his interaction proved to be great. Actually I had been trying for this appointment for a very long time- to be accurate for the past 15 days. But I couldn't make it bcoz of various reasons. But today I made it. He was considerate, patient and had excellent knowledge. The details would make a report in itself but still we need to pump up the numbers a bit more.
I would only hope I get to meet such people many times. u knou its really encouraging to meet some one knowledgeable and willing to share it.
its getting late but i cant help it . i need to catch a train and that would be like asking for Gods address to Satan. let me ask that tooo.....

It really sucks here. Being an alumnus of our own institute I thought our guide would treat us with some sort of responsibility. That I think is back firing. He has some unrealistic expectations out of us and we are finding it really difficult to live up to his expectations. He wants sample size of some 1000 respondents within 3 days. Is it possible by anyone?. I donno. I only hope 20th is advanced by a few weeks. bcoz he's is going on a leave for 15 days from then n we would be free.
although I seriously think of working it(the heat and the distances) sucks in mumbai. mumbai is a great place to visit but a pathetic place to settle. The civic amenities( excuse did i spell it right) is there just( or is it not) in paper. no one is really concerned about a dead dog for about 3 days in a busy road till it really starts decaying and no one can even pass thru it. This happened in Kurla( supposedly in the area with the highest real estate prices in mumbai).

however, life goes on like there is something at the end. Is there anything?. i donno. May be some thing is there for me. But how long i need to slog to atleast know what is there for me?.
